Anxiety

anxietyA good deep tissue massage can helpĀ reduce the effects of anxiety. Pacific College posted an article about Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or GAD, and states, “GAD sufferers are often overly concerned about health issues, money, family problems or difficulties on the job. They can have negative, fearful thoughts about the future or suffer excessive guilt about some past event. These concerns can last for months and are often groundless. Physical symptoms associated with GAD include muscle tension/aches, fatigue, headaches, difficulty swallowing, twitching, irritability, sweating, nausea, lightheadedness, frequent urination, hot flashes and shortness of breath.”

Knowing that someĀ of the symptoms associated with GAD is muscle tension and aches, fatigue, and headaches, there is no wonder about how a therapeutic massage can help. There are many different types of massage that can improve your feelings of anxiety. Ask your massage therapist and consult your general health care practitioner to find out what suits you best for your specific needs. Depending on the person and symptoms, a deep tissue massage is perfect for some, while a Swedish massage is best for others. Sometimes, anxiety is coming from a chronic issue or repetitive injury, so a rehabilitative massage is what’s going to be best for the client. We strive to provide a tailored massage for the individual, based on specific needs.
