Find a Licensed Massage Therapist

We are proud of each of us being a Licensed Massage Therapist with the State of Colorado. Why? What are the benefits of seeing a Licensed Massage Therapist?
Not every state regulates the Massage Therapy profession. Each state also has different requirements for someone to get licensed as a Massage Therapist. Many states require a certain amount of continuing education in order to renew a license. The state of Colorado requires 500 hours of education and for an individual to take the MBLEx, the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam.
The MBLEx is a standardized test that challenges each aspiring Massage Therapist on their knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, Kinesiology, Pathology, Psychology, Client Assessment and Treatment, Massage Modalities, Ethics, Boundaries, and Guidelines for Professional Practice. This is a huge exam that most Massage Therapists have stressed over for months before taking it. In order to take the exam, you have to show proof that you’ve attended an accredited school for Therapeutic Massage and that your education meets the state requirements.

We only employ Licensed Massage Therapists at Under Pressure Therapeutics for many reasons. Having the state licensure ensures that each Licensed Massage Therapist has received a certifiable education with appropriate hands-on training. Each Licensed Massage Therapist has not only dedicated a minimum of 500 hours to learning about the history, application, and contraindications of massage treatments, but has also taken a rigorous test proving the knowledge learned, understands the ethical and professional practices of a Licensed Massage Therapist, and is committed to continuing their individual education on Therapeutic Massage, Ethics, and different bodywork modalities to deliver the most comprehensive and thorough massage treatment for the individual need.
That’s a lot of technical jargon for why we employ Licensed Massage Therapists! Simply put: A Licensed Massage Therapist takes their career as a Massage Therapist seriously. We don’t let people just lie down and let us hurt them–each technique we use has a purpose to help you reach whatever goal you have in mind for your massage. We are professional. We are educated. We are dedicated.
Working with chronic pain, injury and surgery recovery, and other issues require us to know what we need to do. We cannot have someone working for us who doesn’t know how to massage someone with hardware in their neck or back, someone with fibromyalgia, or an adrenaline junkie who has had so many injuries it’s surprising that that person is still alive! With each injury or surgery, each massage is different, and we have to employ Licensed Massage Therapists who know how to handle those different aspects of the field.
We truly take pride in what we do and we really love what we do. That’s why we specialize in Deep Tissue Massage. We aren’t your cucumbers-on-the-eyes day spa; we are Under Pressure Therapeutics, Fort Collins’ Deep Tissue Massage Clinic.
