Athletes are always using their muscles and almost straining them. Sports massage can help greatly with any and all athletes. Many athletes like to think that their bodies are very balanced. However, if you take a baseball player, they use very specific muscles on one side of the body to pitch or throw the ball, while using different, but also specific muscles on the other side of the body. The same principles apply to all types of sports–we naturally favor one side over the other. Sports massage can help to even out these imbalances while retaining the strength required to perform at top shape. Also, a good sports massage, when given properly, can even take the place of a warm up or cool down for the muscles.

Unfortunately, another part of many athletes’ lives is injury recovery. We definitely help with injury recovery, but we strive for injury prevention. Whether you’re on season or off season, a deep tissue massage benefits your muscles and joints to help keep them in tip-top shape. While regular deep tissue massage has many benefits to the athlete, an injury would require some rehabilitative massage care to help you, as the athlete, recover quicker and more thoroughly.

We’ve written a great article outlining more of the benefits of sports massage and regular deep tissue therapy for athletes. Please read more for more information.

All of the therapists at Under Pressure Therapeutics work with athletes as well as being trained in injury recovery therapies.
