Deep Tissue Massage

What is a Deep Tissue Massage?

The body has layers of fibers and tissues, all of which play a role in your movement abilities. Fascia is a connective tissue that acts basically like a onesie; it covers every part of your body. Like a onesie, tension (or pulling) on one part of that connective tissue in turn pulls on everything else, which prevents the tissues underneath to function at 100%. This causes muscle tissues to work harder to do the same thing, which can cause pain, lack of nerve flow, limit range of motion, and more.

Why would I prefer a deep tissue massage?

We specialize in Deep Tissue Massage at Under Pressure Therapeutics. As the name implies, this type of massage uses more pressure to penetrate the deeper tissues of the body, as opposed to Swedish massage, which is much more superficial.

Deep Tissue Massage ultimately refers to a myriad of massage styles that aim to correct tissue dysfunction, loosen knots and structural gluing between tissues and layers, and aid in overall health and wellness.

Kari Spencer and Lauren Moore are all skilled Deep Tissue Massage Therapists.
